“Learning Nomad” in Higher Education: Students’ Learning Patterns from Three Self-Designed Major Programs in Taiwan

As higher education struggles to catch up with the constantly shifting social climate, many modern students are being left overwhelmed by sheer volume of choices they offered in a phenomenon known as “tyranny freedom”. This issue is exacerbated when do not have appropriate guidance from either their parents or universities build own identity and find suitable position functional society. Following innovative trend, few top-ranking started self-designed major programs, making themselves pioneers experimental traditional university system. The purpose this study aims at discovering how Taiwanese organize maps human capital perspectives. 
 Fifteen research participants were recruited three providing bachelor programs asked participate semi-structured interview. content analysis result outlines those “learning nomads” who break department field boundaries interdisciplinary learning clear goals tracing resources across borders. Three crucial outcomes been found: first, mainly influences college entrance channel regards motivation has minor influence on arrange maps. Second, capital, modularized self-directed arrangement theoretical experiential knowledge work alone but together. Finally, was found be essential under stress tyranny freedom.
